They met through a christian dating app and immediately hit it off by talking about their love to travel. This broke into conversations about dreams, aspirations, and expectations for the future. They would spend all hours of the night talking about anything and everything. Shortly after meeting they were going to be separated for a bit of time while Katarina traveled the U.S. Gorge knew he needed to bring her on a date to make an impression before leaving.

Gorge sent Katarina a location where they met at a Buffalo Wild Wings. They enjoyed their meal at a waterfront and then went to Deep Cut Garden where they fingers painted together, took a stroll through the park while laughing and falling in love. It was like a dream come true.

They knew three months of separation would be hard, but keeping in contact was very helpful and necessary. From late night calls in campground bathrooms to hiking up a mountain to find cellphone service, they tried their very best to call at least once a day even if it was just to say goodnight. There were days without contact from the lack of cell service in yellowstone and there were other days it was hours on video chat talking about their faith. They quickly learned that their Catholic faith was the most important part of their lives and if they wanted to continue a relationship their faith had to be the very center. With this understanding, they grew closer and closer to each and became not only best friends but also fell in love with one another. While separation is very difficult once it comes to an end, the joy overwhelming.

Gorge and Katarina have been discussing marriage and engagement for a few months. Katarina had expected him to propose on Christmas. The Saturday before Christmas, they had gone to confession earlier that day. They prayed about their relationship and for guidance. After Saturday evening mass they went to the adoration chapel. They lit a candle, in the back of the chapel ,like they do at every church, in petition for the relationship. While looking upon an image of the holy family Katarina turned around to Gorge on one knee “with God by our side will you marry me?” A few weeks after the proposal they had a betrothal ceremony promising God to marry one another
