Belle Isle is a state park. Do I need to buy a pass?

Answer

Belle Isle does require vehicles to buy a Recreation Passport. Passes can be purchased on the island at the entry booth or at the White House Administration Building. I'm visiting from out of town. Should I rent a car?

Answer

Renting a car while you're in town is probably your best option. Downtown Detroit has the QLine and the People Mover but they both serve limited areas.

Where should I park?

Answer

There is plenty of parking directly in front of the Belle Isle Casino. If you are staying at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites, valet parking is provided by the hotel at a $30 a day rate.

What time should I arrive?

Answer

The ceremony will start promptly at 4:00 so we recommend arriving by 3:45.
