How We Met

It turns out he wasn't just being nice... (from the perspective of Meagan)

It was September 24th, 2024 and I decided to go to the local young adults church service on Tuesday nights. It was my second or third time going, so naturally I was standing the a corner trying to blend in. Then this blue-eyed man in blue jeans came walking up to me. He introduced himself to me and started making conversation, a majority of which I don't remember. I, however, do remember us talking about "Damnit the Dog", the unofficial mascot of HSU, which is the college I went to. It turns out, his grandfather went to HSU too. He ended the conversation by inviting me to church volleyball that following Sunday. I went that Sunday, and even though I was sitting at a park table around 30 feet away, I couldn't help but stare at that blue-eyed man in his sleeveless shirt. However, aside from a few passing words, we never really had a full conversation. I enjoyed volleyball, and snuck a few glances at the handsome stranger, but didn't think too much of it. Weeks went on, things largely the same. Aside from asking if I had made any friends, we never really talked. Then he sat by me the second to last week of October (with one chair in between). He invited me to talk to him and his friends after the church service, trying to include me in the conversation as much as possible. I was extremely tired that day from work, so I was not much of a conversationalist. The week after, I walked into church and saw him with a shaved face. I went up to ask him what was up. It was two days before Halloween, and as I learned during the conversation, he shaved for his Halloween costume (which he will happily show you upon request). He then sat in the same spot as he had the week before. The sermon that day was week one of the dating series at the church, which he took as an entry to ask me on a date. I happily obliged and we soon became inseparable.

For all the days along the way
