This is a great area of San Francisco and it's right off the Embarcadero BART station, which is the first stop in SF. The Ferry Building is a large historic market with various local farmers, ranchers, bakeries, cafes, flower stalls, and restaurants selling lots of quality goodies. Typically there's a craft and artist market outside the Ferry Building and across the street. If you walk west along the Embarcadero you'll eventually come across Pier 39 and Fisherman's Wharf just beyond that. There you'll find the best clam chowder in San Francisco's finest sourdough bread bowls, see lots of performers, and gawk at the famous California Sea Lions.
Just up the hill from Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco is the Buena Vista Bar, home of the original Irish Coffee. You can expect a line but the view is beautiful and the Irish Coffee is the absolute best. Nearby, within walking distance, is Ghiradelli Square where you'll find all things chocolate.
Heinold's is a personal favorite of Mike and Erin, it's settled in Jack London Square in Oakland. Rich in history dating back to the late 1800's this is not a place to miss. The bar is tilted so drastically due to the 1906 Earthquake which left it at a 45 degree angle, you're drink won't slide down though so don't worry about losing your beer. If you look closely enough in the rafter you may even find a bit of Handball history Mike left behind one day while we enjoying a history lesson and a Racer 5 at the bar.
This walking trail and marsh area is home to lots of critters and is situated right behind Erin's childhood home and elementary school. Many days were spent exploring, biking, and building tree forts back there. Now there is a designated pathway with observation decks, informational signs, play area, and a science center. There is ample parking in the new lot and it's just down the road from where the wedding will be held.
