Hannah; Sometimes someone comes into your life when you least expect it... and in the most unexpected way. I went to YWAM Tyler (youth with a mission) with no intention of finding the one I was gonna spend my forever with. I came with a heart on fire for what Jesus was gonna do in my life. Funny story, when I first met Ben I didn't think we were going to get along whatsoever... three days later and he was my best friend. We continued to grow very close learning new things about each other everyday! We kind of had to considering we were together everyday for 5 months... we became pretty inseparable, and I wouldn't have it any other way. We got to travel to Florida, Colombia, Peru, and Brazil together. All before we were dating. We got to do ministry which we are both so passionate about, and all this set such an incredible foundation for our relationship that was to come later! God was teaching us a lot about each other and also a lot about waiting... He was preparing us for our beautiful love story. Ben: When I first met Hannah at YWAM, I saw a strong and bold woman, although I don't think she viewed herself that way. Hannah was unlike any woman I had ever met. She's passionate about God and the things of His kingdom. She loves kiddos and her laugh was infectious, yet rarely heard. As I started to pray about each of my fellow classmates, God specifically told me to love her like He loved me. So that's what I did. I would pray for her, and the crazy thing is that God spoke back to me about her! Now this might not seem too crazy to any of you, but for the longest time when I was dating every girl that I would bring before the Lord God gave a clear and concise "NO". This made me so angry at times, but little did I know that God was preparing me in these times to better follow and hear His voice and to serve and love the woman I would come to marry one day. I am so thankful for the words that God has spoken to me and may we all remember to "Love her like God loves us"
One of the first days at YWAM our school leaders had made a scavenger hunt for all the students. This consisted of teams of 4 going all over the base to meet staff and learn our way around, all while trying to be the first team finished. Of course Ben and I were on the same team with two other students. This was the day I learned Ben doesn't know how to read a map... (love you Ben)! We ended up finishing though so its all good. So, with this in mind, this was how Ben proposed. By sending me on another one, on the same day we met a year ago. January 5th, 2020. The scavenger hunt consisted of all our favorite places around town: My house; is where it started where Ben had bought my shoes that I am wearing for the wedding... VANS. Are we surprised? No. Meme's house; this is where we go to watch football games and waiting for me was a bag of my favorite Topsy's cinnamon popcorn. Blazers; our favorite burger joint! You've gotta try a milkshake! Groundhouse; this is where I work as a Barista slinging coffee! Celebration Park; where we go to walk and watch sunsets! He was there waiting for me at the park when he popped the question. And of course I said YES! We then headed home to celebrate with all my family. Such a magical day... Ben: I had been planning this for about two weeks, and boy if you know anything about me trying to keep this a secret was probably the hardest thing I've had to do. As the day drew near, I let a few more in on the secret, I was trying to be so careful about who I let know and how many people I let know. What Hannah failed to mention was that she has this 6th sense about when I'm planning some big surprise for her, so every time I try to surprise it usually flops. Stupid 6th sense. However January 5th was the day that I out smarted the 6th sense, she calls it a woman's intuition. As I dropped to one knee and looked up the face of the woman I loved beamed from ear to ear, and I thanked God for that sweet, simple, little moment.
