As most of you know, we met on a very popular (at the time) app called Bumble. We obviously both swiped right, but Melissa got to make the end decision of whether to message Drew or not. In the end, the girl messaged the boy, and they started talking more and more frequently until he finally asked her out on a date. However, Drew picked a Friday evening after work, and as he has learned now, Melissa goes to bed at 9 pm. Cue lots of yawning during said date and a very unsure Drew. In the end, a second date happened and after shooting his AR-15 at the gun range I guess love was in the air.
After Drew jumped through multiple hurdles over 4 months, including COVID-19 and the ring being ordered twice (made in the wrong metal), it was FINALLY time to propose. While his grand scheme was to ask Melissa to marry him in March on a trip to Turks and Caicos, those plans were spoiled (see above concerning COVID-19, barred from entry into the country, and wrong ring), but it all worked out for the better. Hart Miller Island was already a special place for both Drew and Melissa, and now, it has even more meaning as a couple. Melissa should have known something was up because Drew set his alarm on a Sunday for 7:30 A.M., and he even packed everything (1st Time EVER) they needed to take Remi out on the boat for his first time. You know Drew, the guy that misses 11 A.M. frisbee golf with his friends because he didn't wake up until 10:30A.M. Anyway, it was unusual, but Melissa was tired and annoyed he was making her get up so early. We got out to the island, and practically, no one was there. We set up on the beach with our chairs, and of course, Remi hates the water. So, after multiple attempts and coaxing with treats, Remi still wouldn't get in the water, and Melissa gave up and was relaxing in her beach chair. That's when Drew started digging through Remi's backpack and took her completely by surprise with the most beautiful ring, which she later found out she'd been carrying around on her back all morning.
