Better Together

Me and Goodness met as children at our church summer camp. Its funny because at first sight we never planned to be together after we spoke and the connection was not there, so “she says”. In August of 2011 Goodness best friend (Charity Jackson) advocated for me and the two of us became friends. After long phone conversations and texting each other everyday due to long distance; we started dating on October 29TH 2011. This went on for at least 10 years visiting each other throughout the years from Maryland to Minnesota and Minnesota to Maryland. Ever since that day Goodness and I have been completely inseparable!

In the year of 2021, On April 3rd, I wanted to take our relationship to another level...marriage. I began the day by cooking Goodness breakfast, getting her nails done, and took her shopping. Later on in the evening I surprised her with ending the night with a beautiful fancy dinner which she thought to be a “date night” just the two of us. But however I had something up my sleeve. Her family was there and Goodness was blindsided. The proposal began with roses. Her sister Lois gave her the first one and she thought nothing of it. Her brother Paul gave her the second with even more roses. Her Pop came third with even more roses. Then I came with a whole bouquet of roses for her. I started off expressing my love for her from the bottom of my heart, and then moment finally came. With all eyes on us, I got down on one knee and proposed. And she couldn’t have been even happier. And to this day she is still smiling. I love you Goodness Israel Montgomery (Smalley)!
