We're getting married!

Alex and I have the cutest meet cute story! We met at my best friend's destination wedding in Tulum...I was a bridesmaid and Alex was their ceremony officiant. Who knew the man marrying my best friend to the love of her life would later become the love of mine?! It was written in the stars. The wedding weekend was a whirlwind and we hardly spoke to each other until we were on the same shuttle back to the airport. We had lunch together at the airport before our flights took off and then we parted ways. At the time, Alex was living in Los Angeles and I live in Houston. We reconnected a few months later on a group trip in Mexico City and I had the BIGGEST CRUSH on Alex (& it clearly never went away!). Fast forward almost a year later and we confessed our feelings for each other under a starry sky in Tulum...a full circle moment.

Stephanie didn’t have a clue the day of the proposal…we were on our last day of our trip in Switzerland, traveling with Amanda and Carl (the couple whose wedding we met at). I started the vacation coming straight from work in Bangladesh, so I had been carrying the ring secretly in my backpack. I planned to pop the question during a hike that we were looking forward to most, but Stephanie got food poisoning the morning of! I prayed she would recover fast and sure enough the next morning, she started feeling better, thank god. We decided to take what we thought was one gondola ride up from our airbnb for the last photo-opportunity of our trip. Three gondolas rides up later, we were on a mountain top with stunning panoramic views. Just like that, when Carl and Amanda were taking photos of us, I got down on one knee and asked Stephanie to be my forever person. With a smile and watery eyes, she said yes! It was in that moment she went from feeling 50% to 100%, proving the healing power of a proposal :)
