Julie's story began in Bogotá, Colombia where she lived until the age of five. In 1999, Julie's parents, Elizabeth and Vicente, made a huge leap and moved their family to Canada. Julie and her family lived in several cities across the continent; including, London, Juárez, and El Paso. On the other hand, Chad grew up in a small town on the West coast of Newfoundland called Port au Port East with his parents, Judy and Bill. After finishing high school, Chad and Julie both endeavored to pursue bachelor’s degrees in Engineering; Julie at the University of Waterloo, and Chad at Memorial University of Newfoundland. Both Chad and Julie finished their degrees with big aspirations and secured full-time jobs at a major oil & gas company in Calgary. These events set Chad and Julie on a collision course with their careers eventually guiding them to one another just a few years later. Taking a step back, Chad first moved to Alberta in June of 2014 and although he thoroughly enjoyed his time in Calgary and Lloydminster, he decided to accept an internal job offer from his company's St. John’s office in March of 2016 (thanks, Andrew). Chad always insists that he carries a lot of ‘bad luck’ so as luck would have it, Julie finished up her studies and moved to Calgary in June of 2016, just three months after Chad departed. Their paths wouldn't cross until May of 2019 when, even though there was always a band down at Shamrock City, it was the perfect time for a change. Chad decided to give Calgary another try and moved across the country for a third time. Just a few weeks later, Chad and Julie met each other at a friend’s house party and have been inseparable ever since. Together with their little pooh bears, Julie and Chad have survived a pandemic, a company merger, and even working back-to-back in their home office for two full years. They just recently purchased their first home together, in Calgary, and are so excited to begin the next chapter of their lives!
August 2019: Julie and Chad became "official". August 2021: Chad proposed, and Julie said YES! August 2022: Together, accompanied by friends and family, they will say "I do".
