How We Met

10/2017- We swiped right!

Something we don't always share with everyone is that we both swiped right. It's understandable as two night-shift medics that we had to turn to alternative methods for finding someone who sparked our interest. Now we talked for a while but we weren't going to meet each other until we realized we knew some of the same people. I (Rebecca) even asked a close friend about Ashley...she warned me to "stay away". You all know me though and know I don't follow directions too well. Man am I glad I didn't listen to this advice as I was able to find the love of my life. Our first date was a movie date at my house. She rang the doorbell and my roommate (Ryan) answered as I was upstairs getting ready. Ash will claim left and right that she was a player but then she met me. I didn't kiss her on the first date and she was hooked. She then took me to meet her friends at Woods of Terror and they too loved us together. It has been us against the world ever since.

The proposal

Or should I say proposals....

True to our relationship our proposal story is just as unique. In August of 2018 we were out in downtown Raleigh with friends I (Rebecca) had met at one of my sister's wedding shows. While being out with them they asked if we had ever thought about getting married. We both laughed and smiled saying of course we had but we weren't going to just yet. We decided to go to Boxcar to just enjoy our time. We had some drinks and played a fair amount of games and sure enough the conversation came up again. Ashley, being Ashley, turned to me with a big grin on her face took off the ring on her finger and bent down on one knee. She said "F*** it! Do you want to marry me?" of course I said yes. She jumped up immediately telling me that this was not the real proposal because of course she had to do everything like asking my father and getting a real ring. I didn't care but I completely understood and let her have it. So fast forward 3 months and behind my prying eyes she had a custom ring made, asked my father for his blessing, and planned out a whole in her mind “proper proposal". Then came November 22nd; thanksgiving for our family. My siblings, father and I were all sitting at the table and, in a similar manner as the first proposal, Ashley stood up took a swig of beer and got down on one knee in front of me. She smiled from ear to ear and I could tell she was nervous. She turned to my brother and explained how she doesn't really do things normally...then turned back to me and said "Rebecca, you are the biggest pain in my ass. But I love you more than anything in the world." She proceeded to ask me to marry her "officially" and as we can see I obviously said yes!
