It's funny how you can meet your future wife on a random day in the Winthrop dining hall, and not even know it. My roommates and I sat down with some juniors I didn't know (but James always seemed to know everybody). Taylor was there on the other side of the table, acting like she had just downed 5 cups of coffee. She was entertaining (and attractive of course), but as an older woman she was probably a little out of my league. Fast forward a year and she happens to be living across the hall. Still totally off the radar, though my mother tried to introduce me to her on move in day, which was a little embarrassing. Then, one night in December, James and I ran into Tay with her roommate in a local pizza dive. Apparently she had been complaining about the lack of dateable guys who met her rigorous qualifications. For some reason James believed I was what she was looking for, and he informed us that we were to go to that night's winter formal together. He can be very persuasive. And the rest is history...
I remember feeling so silly the first time I met Sean. I was in one of my extremely hyper moods, and I kept going on and on about how cool it was that he and his roommate were both named Sean. It really wasn't that funny or cool, but I thought it was everything! From that point on, I would say hi to him when I saw him at baseball practice or in the dining hall, but really nothing else – we definitely didn’t have any classes together! Ha! Fast forward a year and Sean lived across the hall from me (talk about proximity!). Ashley and I became really close with Sean’s roommate, James aka Peanut, and I told that kid everything - especially my boy probs! He’ll make it sound like I had some HUGE list of qualifications for a man, but there were really only about 14 bullet points that needed to be met, so if you ask me, easy peasy. Anyway, one night Ash and I went to Noch’s to get pizza, and we ended up running into Sean and James. James noticed as I was standing next to a 6’4” Sean, that he fulfilled at least one of my boxes and decided that the two of us would be going to the Winter Formal together. I think I said no five times (having nothing to do with Sean, more with the fact I didn’t really feel like going), but he assured us we were going and told Ashley to make sure I was in a dress and ready to go. So we went, and the second he swung me onto that dance floor I was hooked…
