H: We met in a very modern way: on a dating app. Our first date was at 600 Kitchen, and from the beginning everything felt surprisingly easy. I remember thinking Joshua was adorable, incredibly smart, and such a great listener. It felt effortless talking to him, like we had already known each other forever. By our second date, I already had this overwhelming feeling that I was going to love him deeply and that he would either become the love of my life or my greatest heartbreak. J: It’s scary to fall for someone so quickly. While I immediately felt safe and comfortable with Haley, I was suddenly carrying all this stress and worry about losing the love of my life. Over the last three years, we’ve built a life together that feels equal parts cozy and adventurous. We love riding bikes, walking our dogs, wandering farmers markets, playing board and video games, traveling, watching movies, and curling up together with a good book. We’ve traveled to places like New York City, Austin, Chicago, Mackinac Island, and Traverse City, adopted our dog Sofia, picked out our first home, and supported each other through some incredibly important moments in life. H: While we’ve had so many highlights, not everything has been easy. Through everything — including my mom’s battle with breast cancer and multiple surgeries — Joshua has been my perfect counterpart and the best support system I could ever ask for. When it came time to get engaged, we decided we both wanted to propose so we started the clock. I proposed first in our backyard surrounded by candles and photos. J: And I proposed a couple weeks later at home with Sofia carrying the ring on her collar. It was perfectly us: cozy, emotional, and centered around the little family we’ve already built together. What we’re most excited for is honestly the simple stuff — spending everyday life together. More adventures, more traveling, more quiet nights at home, and continuing to grow our family side by side.
