BELMONT MANOR & HISTORICAL PARK
6555 Belmont Woods Road
Elkridge, MD 21075
Belmont Manor, built in 1738 as the home of Caleb and Priscilla Dorsey of Elkridge, remained in the Dorsey, Hanson, and Bruce families for generations before being bequeathed to the Smithsonian Institution. The Smithsonian transformed it into a conference center, and in 1983 the American Chemical Society purchased the property, continuing its tradition of hospitality. Howard Community College acquired Belmont in 2004, using it for hospitality classes and as a retreat and event venue. In 2012, Howard County Recreation and Parks became the owner.
Today, the beautifully restored Manor sits on 68 acres of rolling hills and includes the Cottage House, Carriage House, Caretaker’s House, barn, aqua garden, trails, cemetery, and extensive gardens. The property is also home to the Howard County Conservancy.
