It was fall in the mountains at Cicis Nightclub in Breckenridge, CO (the weekend before Halloween too). Heather was out early celebrating the upcoming holiday and a friends birthday so the crew was in costume (her costume of choice was masquerade). Richard was enjoying a night out on the town between hitches and an early birthday celebration too. The dance floor was crowded and each of us were doing our thing. Well, suddenly our dance moves attracted us to each other. In true fashion a break was needed and we left the floor to get a libation. Richard looked to Heather and said "I'll buy you a drink if you take off your mask." They then got to talking and enjoying each others company until the lights came on. Richard was working a rotating schedule away from home part of the month so getting to know each other took some time. However, Heather regularly awaited his return home to adventure together.

On our fifth anniversary as a couple we went for a walk on our lunch break. There's an open space park with a variety of paths that we discovered during the pandemic lockdown that we often stroll to exercise and chat. We spent hours wandering the paths over the past few years having deep conversations and dreaming up ideas for our future. The clouds were rolling in to bring along some spring time snow so we did the small loop and were on our way back to the house. We paused to look at the clouds moving across Lookout Mountain and Richard got down on one knee. He started reflecting on our adventures over the years and how well our lives fit together. In true Heather fashion, her eyes filled with tears and said Yes as quick as possible. We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you to show off our love. Each of you has been part of our support system the past 5 years and it's time to celebrate! See you in Golden!
