Will and Katie met during the Summer of 2013 at Iowa State University. Both Katie and Will stayed in Ames during the college summers and had mutual friends who liked to get together. One night out, Katie casually mentioned to a friend that she thought Will was handsome and funny, and before she knew it, they were striking up a conversation. Later that evening, Will walked Katie home where they exchanged numbers and the rest as we call it, is history.
After Will and Katie started dating in November 2013, the two were inseparable. Not a day went by that they didn't see each other. As time passed, their relationship grew in love and strength, and talks of moving in together were had. When Katie graduated college in May 2015 and moved to Des Moines, it was the 1st time in 3 years the couple was apart (be as it was only a 30 minute drive). Both Will and Katie made sacrifices to see each other as much as possible. When Will graduated college in May 2016, the couple officially moved in together in Katie's apartment in West Des Moines.
After living together in their small two-bedroom apartment in West Des Moines for a little over a year, the couple took the next step and bought their 1st home together in May 2017. This was also when they decided to get their puppy Blue. Shortly after buying their home, talks of marriage became the next big milestone in their relationship. Finally after 6 years of dating, Will bought the ring over the holidays in 2018 with the guidance of his father. Katie knew the ring was coming, but was clueless that Will had already purchased it. After much deliberation, Will decided the right time to pop the question was during their vacation to Colorado in April. While the couple was out for a hike in the mountains, Will nervously got down on one knee, pulled out the ring and asked Katie to marry him - to which Katie, gleefully responded 'Yes!' with tears streaming down her face.
