Jacob and I meet the summer after I graduated high school. We were both working at The Patriot movie theater in Fayetteville. We became friends after working together that summer but didn't stay in contact after I went to start college at East Carolina University and he went to continue his education at South Carolina University. I remember getting a facebook message from him towards the end of the spring semester saying that he was visiting friends in Greenville and was wanting to see if we could meet up and catch up with each other. I had already packed up and was back in Fayetteville for the summer. We both were going to go back to work at the movie theater for summer and we ended up become close friends that summer. Jacob made his first move by offering to wash my truck for me one day when I was had to work and from then.... well the rest is history!
This past winter was oddly warm even for North Carolina. One Tuesday in January Jacob and I both had the day off and it was one of those super sunny warm days that we had this past winter. Jacob came up to me that morning and asked if I wanted to take the boat out and try to catch some fish out on the intercostal. Of course I said yes. So we took the boat out and we were having a good time, he was fishing and I was reading a book I had started. A part of the story that I don't think he likes me telling is that we actually got stuck in the sand when the tide started coming in so he had to get out in the freezing cold water and nudge the boat out. After that we were both ready to head in the day but he wanted to check out one more spot before heading in. We headed towards the other side of the intercostal and I took my phone out to take a picture of the water and Jacob then asked me if I loved him. I turned around and replied with a "well duuuuh!" He responded by asking if I would love him forever, which threw me off for a second because that's something I always said to him. I laughed and said of course I would. All of a sudden he pulls out a ring box from underneath a beach towel and asked me to marry him! I just remember being so excited and I couldn't stop smiling for hours afterwards! I love being able to go back to that spot and remembering that very special day!
