Alicia's Version of Events: When I first came across Taylor's profile on Facebook dating, I was immediately struck by her mischievous smirk and deep brown eyes. As I read her words it was her kindness and compassion for others that truly hooked me - it was an easy swipe right. To my surprise, she felt the same, and just like that our story began. I opened with my favorite icebreaker: "You're about to walk the green mile, what's your final meal?" When she answered with salmon, Brussels sprouts, and mashed potatoes I knew I'd found something special. Getting Taylor to agree to a date took a little more patience - a month and 3 days to be exact - but every moment was worth the wait. During that time we built a beautiful friendship, one that became the foundation of a love that has continued to grow stronger over the past year. Then came the conversations. The chats, the texts, the moments where I realized she was crossing my mind more and more. I tried to fight what I was feeling. I wasn't ready. I was scared. But she was patient with me. She didn't give up. She waited while I sorted through my emotions and I will always be grateful for that. Somewhere along the way she became my best friend.
