HOW WE MET

06.15.17

Tara and Brian were introduced at a local restaurant among friends. In hopes they would hit things off, they were set up to meet for sushi. Her Version: I was laying by the pool when I received an invitation to meet the group for sushi. I was nervous and excited for it was my first time trying raw fish! Gross! I spotted Brian and made my way to the table. To my surprise the “group” was his entire family! I could feel the heat in my cheeks as I sat down and wasn’t sure what just happened. -- Did I just crash their family outing!? -- His Version: My family and I decided to go out for sushi. Prior to leaving the house, I received a message indicating friends would be joining us. Moments later, a message from Tara popped up asking for directions to Kenzo Sushi. I was thrilled and overjoyed with excitement. A few mins after being seated, Tara arrived looking quite confused. From then on: Kenzo Sushi became our favorite restaurant. We wanted to remain friends, but fate had something different in mind. We found ourselves constantly finding reasons to see each other. It wasn’t until months later consisting of Disneyland trips, pool outings, gym sessions and various other activities when we realized we were dating.

THE PROPOSAL

08.04.18

We spent the day in Monterey visiting the aquarium, strolling through Cannery Row, tasting some of the best foods, and taking in sights at Mcabee Beach. After an early dinner, Brian took Tara to Carmel Beach to enjoy the sunset. Her Version: All day Brian had this sparkle in his eye while we celebrated our belated anniversary. I had the most wonderful day and truly couldn’t imagine it getting any better! As the sun set Brian held me close for a kiss and I felt his heart pounding violently. I had this feeling that he was going to propose, but I didn’t want to spoil it. As the sun was disappearing I was preparing myself for the most romantic moment, until he took my hand and walked me back to the car… His Version: The proposal was to be something special between Tara and I. I wanted us to be surrounded by the very thing that brought us closer and closer together. The whole day I was fixated on making everything absolutely perfect. While on the beach watching the sunset I kept rehearsing the proposal in my head. I knew the location had to be just right. Proposal: Outside our apartment we were surrounded by redwood trees. Tara had just opened our front door as I called out her name. She frantically turned around to find me on one knee. All the nerves immediately left my body as I gazed into her eyes and spoke from the heart.
