Our Story

Brandon and Katelyn's story began during their sophomore year at Lamar University. It all started with a simple Twitter connection—mutual followers who exchanged likes on each other's posts, with Brandon showing particular enthusiasm for Katelyn's tweets. Before long, Katelyn took the next step and reached out to Brandon through direct messages. What began as online exchanges quickly blossomed into real-world hangouts around campus—studying together in the library, grabbing meals at the dining hall, and sharing moments that gradually deepened their connection. However, just as their relationship was gaining momentum, the world was hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. Though their timing seemed unlucky, they found a silver lining: why isolate from everyone when you could isolate together? As restaurants and public spaces shut down, their first real date turned out to be at a Sonic Drive-In—romantic in its own charming way. With college transitioning to online learning, Brandon and Katelyn spent more time than ever with one another. What could have been a lonely period turned into a time of growing closeness, as they navigated the ups and downs of their relationship while locked in together. As time passed, Katelyn graduated in the winter of 2022 with a degree in interdisciplinary studies, and soon after, began her career as a second-grade teacher in Goose Creek ISD. Meanwhile, Brandon was still in school, which meant their relationship entered the long-distance phase. Though the distance between Houston and Orange wasn’t insurmountable, it wasn’t without its challenges. But they made it work. In the spring of 2024, Brandon completed his degree in chemical engineering and secured a position at an engineering firm in Houston's Galleria area. During that time, Brandon proposed to Katelyn at a botanical garden in Orange, Tx on March 23, 2024. Despite the changes and the new chapters in their lives, the bond between Brandon and Katelyn only grew stronger. What started as a series of small moments blossomed into a lasting relationship that has withstood time, distance, and the challenges life threw their way.
