Before they met, Lauren and Matt were both seeking love in a hopeless place... On dating apps. Hinge prides themselves on being the dating app that is "designed to be deleted". During the Winter of 2022, Lauren was disappointed in the available suitors so, she decided to delete Hinge. Fast forward to the beginning of 2023 and Lauren finds she's been charged for Hinge over the last few months. The thing is when you delete Hinge, you have to cancel your subscription AND delete the app... Oops. She wrote to Hinge and officially cancelled her subscription but had access to the app for the rest of the month. So, Lauren thought, "Why not take advantage and see who's out there?". That is when Lauren and Matt matched on Hinge! After a few days of talking, Matt asked Lauren to go to the Mavs game with he, his roommate, and roommate's girlfriend. The thing was, Dallas-Fort Worth had just had an infamous ice storm. While Lauren was interested in getting to know Matt more, she wasn't interested in risking her life. Matt was understanding and agreed traveling across the metro wouldn't be the best idea. He then offered a mimosa walk as another option for a first date! Lauren and Matt's meet cute was when Lauren got to Matt's apartment, and he climbed into her car so they could drive up the 6 floors of the parking garage to guest parking. A bit of an awkward greeting but the awkwardness soon faded as they began their mimosa walk with Matt’s roommate, girlfriend, and friends. At the end of the mimosa walk, Matt asked Lauren to go to the Stars game with him in a couple days. She was so excited and the game was on Valentine’s Day of all days! Matt made sure to tell Lauren it wasn’t going to be a big deal that it was on Valentine’s Day and it was just going to be any other date… She wasn’t going to drive across the metro on a work night for just “any other date”! They cheered on the Stars and shared peanut butter & chocolate cake… which Lauren only nibbled on because she was so nervous. At the end of this date, Lauren was thinking to herself that Matt was the real deal and had a sense that he was the one for her. On February 24th, Matt asked Lauren if they could see each other that evening. They had plans the next morning but Matt was getting off work early and decided to see if Lauren was free. While Lauren was tired from work, she was joyfully overwhelmed that Matt would make the effort for an impromptu date so, she agreed. That was the night Lauren told Matt she wanted to be exclusive, and they became boyfriend/girlfriend! In Lauren's excitement she played, "Boyfriend" by Justin Bieber. The next morning, Matt showed up with hydrangeas, dark chocolate peanut butter cups, and treats for River... The way to Lauren's heart! Once Lauren and Matt started spending time together, they never stopped. Matt logged lots of miles as he sacrificially drove to Fort Worth on weekends and weekdays so, they could make the most of "short distance". There were many late nights and early mornings, but he was not going to let distance impact the two's budding relationship. Matt committed to Lauren, not just through his drives to Fort Worth but in many other ways. Their commitment to one another over last 2.5 years has resulted in a deep and unwavering love. Matt often reminds Lauren that as long as they have each other, things will "always work out". This reassurance is one of the reasons why Lauren fell in love with Matt. Their love has only just begun and they can’t wait to see how their love carries them through life’s changes. They are so excited to get married and to celebrate with their closest friends and family on May 3rd, 2026!
