How We Met

July 4th, 2015

Amber decided to visit her grandparents for the week surrounding Independence Day in 2015. She and her grandfather decided to go spectate the Peachtree Road Race, as Amber used to be a competitive runner from age 7 all the way through high school. They arrived early in Buckhead on the 4th and stopped for an early morning coffee at the Disco Kroger Starbucks. While in line, a handsome young man in front of Amber began talking to her and her grandfather about UGA. This man's name was Michael. Amber and Michael continued to chat for a while after receiving their coffee (as her grandfather and his parents looked on suspiciously) and exchanged phone numbers. Michael showed Amber around Athens for their first date a couple days later and they ended up talking long into the night at her grandparents house afterwards. Michael said he would visit Amber in Colorado, but she didn't really believe he would come. That next week, after Amber had returned home, Michael bought a ticket out to Colorado, and the rest is history.

The Proposal

July 4th, 2019

In the years since meeting, Amber and Michael had run the Peachtree Road Race together each 4th of July. It had become their tradition, since this is where they met. However, this fourth race that they would run together would be especially memorable. The morning started off with a stop for Pink Drinks at the Starbucks where they'd first met. They then ran the race and enjoyed a few beers along the way. Post race, Michael took Amber up to walk around the lake at Piedmont Park. This was an especially meaningful place to him because he knew he loved Amber for the first time when they went on a date there a couple years back. He lead Amber to a secluded path that overlooked the lake and had a view of the Atlanta Skyline. He then got down on one knee and proposed. Amber said yes immediately. They then enjoyed the rest of the post race festivities and celebrated their new and exciting stage of life.
