Rental Cars for McCarthy, AK

Be aware that some rental car companies will not cover their vehicles on the McCarthy Road! GoNorth Rentals, Midnight Sun Rentals, or Alaska 4×4 are local companies that allow vehicles without restriction. Budget and Enterprise and a few others have limited vehicles they will allow to drive the McCarthy Road, Check with them for further details. Turo has also become a popular option as well!

Train

Shuttle Options

Overflow Transit offers a scheduled service between Anchorage and McCarthy during the summer. Check out their website for their up-to-date schedule and pricing. The Kennicott Shuttle offers daily van service from Glennallen to McCarthy. Their site also has good information about connecting services to and from Anchorage and other destinations.

Flight

Flying to McCarthy

Flying is the easiest and quickest way to get to McCarthy/Kennicott. It is a ~2 hour flight from Anchorage, 50 minutes from Glennallen, and 25 minutes from Chitina. Visit the link to view the 3 flight companies. The Lodge shuttle van will pick you up at the airstrip when you arrive and take you back when you depart.
