How it began: (James' dictation, Jordan's notes between </>)

Sequim, WA

It was a Friday... Not just any Friday though. The weather was dismal, Randy and I had just driven several hours to get to the Singles retreat early to make sure everything was set up. We played Garbage for a solid 4 hours before anyone showed up, and were definitely starting to go insane. Finally, everyone got there and settled into their rooms. The next morning was amazing. Up early for coffee and a quiet time with God. It was incredible to see a house full of men all up at 7 in their bibles. The girls showed up a little later for breakfast, before a very special baptism of our brother Samuel (which Jordan missed... She was too spiritual, aka intently still reading her bible. <Except you were judging me because you thought I just skipped>.) After the baptism, I had a blast exploring all the small town shops with a group, (there was a tea & olive oil shop that blew my mind.) We reconvened at the girl's house for dinner, followed by games and a "fierce" round of mafia. <I felt like we connected right away, you were a calm spirit of order and understanding amongst the mass disarray and rambunctious shouting around me> I was eliminated first and spent the whole time sulking next to none other than the girl I would end up marrying. Sadly I got her killed off pretty quick because we got caught with our heads together leading to suspicion from the crowd. <you thought you were sulking, but I felt like you were being a great listener as I pridefully complained about how the game was being played>. On Sunday, back in Seattle, I had a bible study at a coffee shop in SLU, and was surprised to see Jordan out the window, (her bright pink sneakers gave her away). Realizing she worked across the street, I resolved to go visit her after the study. <STALKER!> We had an amazing conversation about the retreat and openly shared about our experiences and takeaways <you mean about me realizing my pride and how I wanted to grow> and thus began the friendship that has taken us here.
