We met at college orientation at Columbia College Chicago. After becoming Facebook friends that night, we realized we had a course together our first semester. We became best friends. After spending a year and a half uninterested in each other, he invited me to go to a Brazilian steakhouse to use his Groupon that was about to expire. Something had changed, and he gave me a hug at the end of the night (he's not a hugger). Soon after we started dating. Our wedding day is the 5 year anniversary of that dinner.

On my birthday that year, we went with my family to Pleasant House Pub in Pilsen for dinner. Afterward, we went back to my parent's house for cake and presents; and when I thought all the gifts were done with, he presented me with an expensive British satchel I had been eyeing online. Inside I found a small, empty box. When I found nothing to be in the box, he dropped down on one knee and proposed. I smiled and said, "Yes, of course," and we were engaged.
