Kevin and Jessica met at a bar through a mutual friend their senior year at Penn State. They first connected over memories of studying abroad in New Zealand, ballroom dancing in apartment kitchens, and eating cheese plates. With the expectation that things would never last past graduation, they started dating in March of 2015. After graduation and a few months of near-effortless long-distance, Kevin made it official by asking Jessica to be his girlfriend at the Washington Monument in July.
After deciding to get engaged in early 2020, the coronavirus pandemic halted any plans for a proposal. After a considerable wait, Kevin finally decided to propose when taking the first camping trip of the season. Kevin found the perfect spot to get on one knee...on a floating, downed giant cedar log directly beneath Mount Baring.
After careful consideration, Kevin and Jess decided to elope only a month after their engagement in the mountains of Washington. Flowers were purchased at the local farmers market, a cheese plate was made, Kevin made tacos, and Jess made the cake. Handwritten vows were exchanged at sunset at Gold Creek Pond as our friends Nichol, Dominic, Courtney, and Jack (and of course our pups) witnessed. It couldn't have been more perfect.
We will be having a quick and simple recommitment ceremony and reception to celebrate our marriage. We can't wait to have our families and friends in the same place to eat, drink, and dance the night away!
