Elan and Glynnis met at a Meetup event at the Emporium Arcade + Bar in Chicago. They sat down at a picnic table and locked eyes. The two bonded instantly over improv comedy. They were inseparable the rest of the evening. As Elan and Glynnis were parting ways, they were both too shy to ask for the other's number. Then, the following Monday, Elan found Glynnis on the Meetup app. Their first date was at the Bughouse Theater for an improv jam.

Elan was offered a post doctoral fellowship in Austin, Texas. Glynnis was finishing up her master's degree so it made sense for them to start a new life together in Texas. Elan moved in April 2022 and Glynnis moved after she graduated in the summer. The couple enjoys Austin by playing pickleball, performing improv, and eating BBQ.

Elan booked a romantic cottage for two in the Texas Hill Country for the Thanksgiving holiday. That Friday, the couple cooked a dinner that featured pork tenderloin, asparagus, stuffing and pumpkin pie. After dinner, Elan got down on one knee and asked Glynnis to marry him. And she said yes!
