We swiped right on Bumble in the middle of December 2022, but with holiday travel and packed schedules, we didn’t get a chance to meet in person until January 2023. For a whole month, it was nothing but texts—long conversations, shared jokes, and a growing sense that something special was taking shape before we’d even met face to face. Our first date was at Coastal Flats in Rio in Gaithersburg, Maryland, and it couldn’t have gone better. We both didn’t want the date to end, but there was an 8:30pm postseason Philadelphia Eagles vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Wildcard game that Gloria planned to watch. We agreed to continue the date by finding a bar, hang out a bit longer and watch the game together. The rest of the night uncovered sparks of adventure and it felt like the start of something real. We enjoyed every extra minute together—and yes, the Eagles did win. Michael looks back on that first date and remembers how much positive energy Gloria had that it drew him in immediately. Gloria remembers how easy it was to talk to him about so many topics as the conversations continually flowed with his quick wit and the pun-filled jokes keeping her smiling all night. Over the next two and a half years, we’ve enjoyed trips both locally and abroad, discovering new restaurants and trails, and growing together through every season of change, both personally and professionally. No matter where we are, we’re always in it together by making memories one swipe, one moment, and one adventure at a time.
