Where can I stay if I attend the Ceremony?

Answer

We recommend looking at the Gage Hotel or Marathon Motel in Marathon, or the Chisos Mountain Lodge in Big Bend National Park.

Will I have to hike to the ceremony site?

Answer

No, there is a sidewalk that goes straight to the ceremony site.

Will there be a dinner provided after the ceremony?

Answer

No. We are planning on having dinner with our immediate family at the 12 Gage Restaurant at the Gage Hotel but you are welcome to join us to celebrate!

Will there be transportation provided from Marathon to Big Bend National Park

Answer

No, however we do recommend that people car pool. For those that caravan with us from the Gage Hotel we will cover the entrance fee into the park.

Do I have to go to both the ceremony and the reception?

Answer

No. We understand that most people will not be able to make it out to the ceremony due to the remote location and it being during the work/school week. That is why we planned the reception in Austin as a more convenient event for people to attend. You are welcome to attend both events for those that can make it!

How long is the drive from Marathon to the ceremony site at the Chisos Mountain Lodge?

Answer

The drive is roughly 1 hour and 30 minutes, but give yourself some extra time in case you want to pull over at an overlook on the way.

Will the reception be open bar?

Answer

No, but we will provide a limited beverage selection of beer and wine available.

What will the temperature be like in Big Bend?

Answer

At the ceremony site, The Chisos Mountains, it may be between 45 - 60 degrees. Bring a light jacket/sweater if you feel you may need. In Marathon, it should be in the 60's or 70's.
