This is where it all began! We recommend takin a historical tour of 'grounds' which start at The Rotunda. Or walk around The Lawn and surrounding areas at your own pace. Need a place to park? Try the UVA Bookstore garage nearby.
Monticello
Have a few hours to spare? Take a tour of Thomas Jefferson's house and grounds. We recommend buying tickets in advance online for a discount!
Wineries, Cideries, and Breweries
The surrounding Charlottesville area is known for great wine, beer, and cider. Some of our favorites include Veritas, King Family, Pippin Hill, Blenheim, Blue Mountain, Bold Rock, Castle Hill, and Three Notch'd. Pick a few - you can't go wrong!
Historic Downtown Mall
You'll find great restaurants, shops, and more on this quaint pedestrian mall. Some of our favorite include The Whiskey Jar, Jack Brown's, Fellini's, C&O, Lampo, and Miller's.
Carter Mountain Orchard
Apple picking, cider, and beautiful Charlottesville views - what more could you ask for?
Bodo's Bagels
An absolute must for a visit to Charlottesville. Check out their two other locations on The Corner and Emmet Street.
The Market at Bellair
Sandwiches in a gas station, but make them the delicious. Great for a quick bite!
Saunders-Monticello Trail
With spectacular views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the trail winds its way toward Monticello and back in a very manageable four miles. A maximum grade of 5% keeps it completely accessible.
Humpback Rock
If you're feeling more adventurous, Humpback is the closest hike. While it's a relatively short loop (2 miles), it's quite the incline. The views make it worth the climb.
