The meetcute

Law firm internship or meeting your soulmate?

As most may know, we met in May 2022 while both working in DC for the summer during law school. We were one year apart in law school, and went to school in COMPLETELY different places (David - New Hampshire, Michelle - DC) and so as we became better and better friends over the summer, it became very sad to think about going back to school wihtout the other person more involved in our lives. We both distinctly remember the moment that David was leaving DC to drive back to new hampshire for the following school year and it hitting both of us that we just cannot be without this person in our lives. When David was back in New Hampshire we talked ALL the time and very quickly he invited me up to NH to visit :) It was an easy yes, and we had the most wonderful weekend as we felt the intense feelings we had for each other. By the end of the weekend, it was a wrap we knew this needed to happen. So as lawyers do, we sat down and decided togehter what we felt was the best time to say we officially started dating, and we landed on September 6 as the official date we began dating.

How we got engaged (and proposed to each other)

When all your plans dont work, take a spot in the park

We both knew we wanted to propose to the other and after hearing about our meetcute in the summer of 2022, we knew the only place either of us would ever want to propose to the other was on the rooftop of the building where we spent so much time chatting and getting to know more about each other. Only one tough part, the firm had moved out of that office space and so it was not easy to access the rooftop. Michelle did her best effort to sway the security guards and David ran into all similar roadblocks when very close to the planned proposal day, we both knew it was not likely to happen. David really stepped up in this moment and did not let this ruin the proposal as he quickly said "guess we are going to spot B" and noted a park right near the apartment he rented when we first met. Michelle immediately gets into creative mode and determines how we are going to make a cute picnic type spot at the park with flowers and all the same things we wanted to have on the rooftop. It was a beautiful setup and scene as we both sat there staring into each other's eyes knowing what was about to happen. We both had prepared our own style of speech before the ultimate proposal and it was a beautiful moment in a seculded part of a park as we both proposed to the other and started crying happy tears. However, we also learned it was not as secluded as we thought as numerous dogs were extremely interested in trees surrounding our picnic area and the bugs were out in force that day. So one of the happiest days of our lives also has some built in funny moments, which is a very accurate description of the day to day life that we experience together.
