Maya has been one of my best friends for over 13 years. Although difficult, I was able to see past her unfortunately purple highlights to see her wonderful qualities and haven’t looked back. Her marriage to Jake will be the next step of a beautiful journey for these two incredible people. Jake has had such a positive influence on her life, and mine as well - now I can confidently say, I am not the strangest, nerdiest guy I know. I can’t wait to celebrate both of them and their love!

Jake and I are cousins. Our meeting wasn't as serendipitous as a chance friendship. Our Moms were just sisters. Maya is definitely more than capable of rolling with the punches when we hang out. I love Jake and Maya as teammates, and that is truly what they are. We watch fights, bad movies, and talk crap about New Jersey like any honorable New Yorkers. I am excited to welcome Maya into our family, which is totally normal and easy to get along with...

Maya and I met at JFK in 2010, bound for a semester in Prague. She looked friendly & I approached her. Despite a promising beginning, Maya failed to text me once we arrived, delaying our inevitable friendship. (You may think I shouldn’t criticize Maya on her own website, but I simply must, since she has been perfectly supportive & responsive ever since. And I mean it- I have few chances to give her a hard time.) Fun times in Prague prevailed, with freezing temperatures & plenty of good beer forever bonding us. We shared great years in NY, finishing our time at NYU bonding over musicals, bad Mets baseball & all-you-can-eat sushi. I left for my career in 2015, but the time apart has never dulled our friendship, or our tendency to have long, nerdy conversations about Harry Potter or Buffy.

I met Maya fall of 2007 in one of our Gallatin freshman classes. She had on a shirt with a bunch of logos from Broadway shows, so naturally as a non NY native I thought that meant she knew a lot about Broadway shows. And I was right! While I remember this story as someone taking swift action to learn more about something in the new city I was in, she just saw a large lumbering man demanding to see a show with her. Despite that she invited me over for the first Thanksgiving of college, where I got to meet her family and I guess cement my standing as that “distant California cousin”. By hook or by crook we’ve been friends ever since! Who knew? Anyways thrilled to be a part of Maya’s special day and wish her all the happiness in the world. Because I know her, I have been changed for good.

I met Jake through Maya; I am the pianist at Anshe Emeth Memorial Temple where she is a rabbi. I looked up to Jake from the moment I met him. I am, after all, only 5’3”. He & I have become very close friends, and I respect both his brilliance and his unique journey and life experience. My favorite memories of Jake are when he & Maya have taken me & my wife out to Korean Barbeque. His expertise on the menu is something to see. He orders as if he was born with bulgogi in one hand & a set of chopsticks in the other. Maya is very generous and compassionate. Jake is a very smart man and yet uses that knowledge only to help ease the burdens of those he cares about. It is my joy to be by Jake’s side as he embarks on his amazing journey with Maya, serenading them both from the sidelines.

Maya is my rabbi & my husband Dave’s colleague. Maya & Jake took the time to see me for who I was & welcomed me. For that I will be forever grateful to both of them. Jake & Maya are really down-to-earth & genuine people who I am proud to call friends. Maya & I bonded over our shared love of singing & pop culture. I always tell her that now I have someone with whom I can watch the Tony Awards... Jake….well, Jake just gets me. He’s a good friend & knows how to cut through all the nonsense. He has been a trustworthy sounding board. The two of them fit so well into our lives & I am grateful for their generosity of spirit & love. I can’t wait to make more memories with Maya & Jake and I am happy to present the loving couple with rings to seal their marriage in nothing but happiness.
