The Beginning (as told by Dylan)

The day Laura and I met I was a nervous freshman going into my first music class of the semester. I was a music major, so I knew this would be where I would meet all of the people I’d be dealing with for the rest of my time at CBC. The class I was going to was handbells and I had previously joked with my mom that I was going to be surrounded by a bunch of nerds ringing bells. To my surprise it was full of smiling faces and some of my best friends. Before I walked in I was greeted by Shelbbie and Laura who gave me a basket full of gifts that they had used their own money on to “prepare me for college”. The first thing I saw was a picture on a eraser board that Laura drew of a man singing with my name by it. Laura and I’s friendship started with us being paired as a couple in Little Women the Musical with the daunting task of us having the only kissing scene. Our voice teacher INSISTED on us becoming close friends, so we did! Laura planned a practice for us that turned out to be a quick Q&A of “what are three things no one knows about you at CBC?”. After that we seemingly hung out everyday, watching movies, running errands together and talking about our lives. On our choir tour cruise to the Bahamas is where we really became comfortable with each other and starting to mess with people and making them think we were “a thing”. While we were, I soon started to hope we would one day become a thing although I assumed we wouldn’t and that she wouldn’t be interested in a freshman like me. After our performance of Little Women we were hanging out and texting everyday and I finally got the indicator that she WAS interest in me. I drove to her house, bought her sunflowers (her favorite) and asked her if she would go out with me. We went on a date to Marketplace in Conway and ran into our voice teacher. We then got to break the news to her that we were dating. She still takes credit for putting us together to this day and I’m so glad she did!
