I remember the very first moment I saw Lindsay. It was the first day of Japanese Literature and my last semester at UNT. I was sitting down waiting for class to begin when she walks in and I remember thinking "Who's that"? and "I need to meet her." After hanging out in groups a number of times-getting yogurt, going to the Japanese Language Exchange Club, and attending a masquerade ball-I started trying to find ways to hang out outside our group of friends. Then after months of fighting other guys off left and right I finally mustered up the courage to ask her out. She said yes and we've been taking on the world ever since.
After a romantic ride on the Tempozan Ferris Wheel, we walked to a stepped amphitheater next to Kaiyukan Aquarium. Sitting on the steps, Craig told me to open my birthday present, which was Tokaido, a board game where the goal is to have the best experience on the journey. He said, "I think this is a special edition - you should open the box!" He had hidden the ring inside. Getting down on one knee he asked, "Will you marry me?" and crying I said, "Yes!" As I slipped the ring onto my finger, everyone around us on the steps broke out into applause (it's very rare for a man to get down on one knee to propose in Japan!).
