How We Met

By Kim

We first met in Spring 2016 while working tech sales jobs in Northern Virginia. Thankfully Scott did not remember that I DMed him on LinkedIn one year prior, a total stranger at the time, to see if he could help me get a job...yikes! While we were just friends for 1.5 years, Scott and I eventually realized how much we have in common - for starters, we went to the same college! We both played sports at CUA, are always the first people to Irish goodbye a happy hour, never say no to Chick-fil-A - the list goes on and on! Scott finally asked me to go on our first date in Clarendon in Winter 2017. We later both admitted to looking at the menu a week before the date because we were so nervous (and ended up ordering the exact same thing.) Fast forward almost four years later, the nerves are gone, and the rest is history. We brought our dog, Winston, home shortly after moving in together and our family was complete. These past few years with Scott and Winston have been the happiest times of my life - but I'll save that for the vows!

How He Asked

By Scott

Kim and I always talked about moving to Annapolis and would take frequent trips through the years to walk around by the water, have a nice brunch, or go on a boat ride. We’d dream of one day having a nice house near the water with a big backyard for Winston. Annapolis holds a special place in our hearts, and I knew that the greatest engagement surprise I could ever give Kim would be at our favorite place down by the docks. COVID-19 pushed my plans back 6 months, but I was finally able to coordinate our next trip down to Annapolis and I made sure it would be one we’d never forget. On November 21st, 2020, we slowly walked down to the docks as we always do and got right to the edge with the water in the background. I turned to Kim and said, “I have a confession. Our reservations for brunch today aren’t for 2…they are for 10. Your whole family is waiting for us.” I opened that small black box and told her I’ve known since the beginning that I want to spend the rest of my life with her. I asked her to marry me and she said "YES" (actually…she said, "Put the ring on!") We spent the rest of the day with family and friends, excited for our future and the journey ahead of us. We both will never forget that day; it was the happiest moment of our lives and I know there will be plenty more unforgettable memories down the road!
