How We Met

Timing is Everything

I never planned on going to Brigham Young University - Hawaii. Neither did Giulia. In fact months prior, each of us were in other parts of the world doing different things and with different goals while wondering where life would take us next. When college finally became the priority, we were both led to BYU-H. I first saw Giulia on campus during culture night practice. I didn't muster up the courage to go speak to her at first but at the same time, the timing didn't seem right. In a few days, I would be leaving to Quantico, Virginia for two months of military training. When I returned from training, I saw her again. This time it was in my first period class. I was confused because the class was mainly for graduating seniors and I did not see Giulia in any of the other "senior" courses. However, I later found out that she wasn't a senior but was placed in that class because all the other ones she needed were full. "Oh the irony" I thought. Two weeks had passed and I still hadn’t mustered up the courage to speak with Giulia, lol. Maybe someone somewhere was losing patience with me because God threw me a bone, like literally.. well maybe in the form of a pen haha. I don't know how and neither does Giulia but she dropped her pen and it ended up next to my foot. The catch is that I was actually sitting a few seats over to the right and in the row behind her. Still to this day I can't scientifically piece together the physics behind the path of which her pen took to bump into my foot. I picked up her pen and the rest was history. Seriously, lol. As cliché as it sounds, that meeting led to another which led to another and so on and so forth. The timing wasn't right two months ago prior to military training. It wasn't two weeks earlier when I saw her again. Okay maybe it was. But I like to say that it was chance and initiative that caused our worlds to collide and choice that caused us to stay together. Giulia was the angel I was looking for in paradise.

For all the days along the way
