We met in high school at a local competition through mutual friends and didn't think much of it. Then, we both began college in San Antonio, entering the same medical program. We became best friends, bonding over our shared love for the Valley, good food, and our sense of humor. We just clicked. Our first trip back home from college we carpooled and jammed out the entire car ride. There were fist bumps. We harmonized by accident. That's when both of us thought, "Okay. This is really something special."

Almost four years after we had been dating, we took a trip to South Padre Island together. The weather was gloomy and there was a high chance of rain, but he was adamant we go. When we arrived, our family and closest friends were on a pier, each of them holding a picture with a memory of our relationship along with rose. Jomari walked me through each station retelling our beautiful love story. He then got down on one knee, and it was the easiest "YES!" of my life.
