Our story began in our later days of college in 2021. Gisel & Tyrus met on campus at Tennessee State University, both trying to wrap up their degrees. Gisel was Tyrus' RA in the Ford Apartments, so they both would see each other around and say a friendly hello here and there, but were both very focused on themselves and invested in their respective programs. In September of 2021, both Gisel and Tyrus learned they had mutual friends and got a chance to participate in a friendly game night, where they felt that magical spark of romance begin. Eventually by the end of the game night, they had noticed it was just them. They spent the entire night talking and didn't even realize it was almost sunrise before they finally decided to end the night. After that night, it was like they were inseparable friends. Before anything, Gisel and Tyrus became best friends, being able to share pretty much anything with each other and spending lots of quality time together, figuring out each other's personality traits and interests. After a few months went by and the friendship was strong, Tyrus asked Gisel to be his girlfriend. Gisel was wrapping up her last days attending TSU and graduating which did mean she had to move back home to Virginia for a temporary time, while Tyrus continued to pursue and complete his RT program in Tennessee. This meant that they would have to be long distance for several months to start their relationship, but they were both willing and wanted to put the work in to make sure this relationship stayed strong and was being watered. Through their 7 months of long distance, they continued to pour into each other and support one another, all while nurturing their relationship. They learned that distance taught them to cherish the moments they did get to spend together in short times. Distance had a way of bringing them closer together more than ever before, and even in that time they would visit each other, they also got the opportunity to meet each other's family which created even stronger bonds between them too as they both loved each other's family. Gisel and Tyrus moved into an apartment together, following Tyrus’ graduation in 2023. They both focused on their career paths, nurturing their relationship and got a steady routine down. After a year of living together, both of them decided to get their beloved puppy, Kobe, and journeyed through the life of being dog parents. They valued sharing this role and for that, have continued to love and share fun experiences with their not so puppy, Kobe who has continued to be the center of their attention. Another year goes by and in 2024, Tyrus pops the big question and Gisel of course happily says yes. The excitement from everyone was surreal. The couple basked in the light of this new lifetime milestone that they had built onto. They had a grand engagement party in the beautiful fall season to commemorate the news and share with all of their closest friends and family. The engagement party was beautiful and full of life, and happiness. After about 3 years of living in their small 1 bedroom apartment, they decided it was time to expand and upgrade their space, giving their pup the backyard he deserved. They both moved to Madison, TN and got the cutest small 3 bedroom home with a pretty backyard to continue to share love, create new memories together and grow in. Now that they have checked off these major milestones of becoming college graduates, securing and excelling in their careers, creating a warm and loving home, raising their happy dog, continuing to make new experiences together and even overcome all of the obstacles on their beautiful journey, They have decided to tie the knot and get married with a beautiful and intimate elopement ceremony in the Fall 2025, with plans to do a lot of traveling after, exploring the world together, before they embark on their dreams of starting and raising a family of their own together.
