Our Story

Caleb and Kate’s story began with a simple match on Hinge. After a few messages back and forth, they planned their first date at Putnam’s Vineyard in White River Junction, Vermont, on September 4th, 2024. Early in the evening, Kate mentioned she was a recent graduate of Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC. Caleb quickly said he knew exactly where that was, but Kate wasn’t buying it. Assuming it was just a smooth first-date move, she pressed him for details. To her surprise, Caleb really did know the Greenville-Spartanburg area through work… little did they know they’d be calling it home together just a mere two years later. Caleb still remembers how stunning Kate looked when she arrived, and how the bartender effortlessly upsold her on a $70 bottle of wine (arguably the best $70 Caleb has ever spent). As the night went on, they became so wrapped up in conversation that they were the last ones left in the wine bar. The bartenders, clearly rooting for them, let them stay over 30 minutes past closing. At the time, Kate had only lived in the area for a few months, so Caleb happily stepped in as her personal tour guide. Their second date turned into a full Upper Valley adventure, walking along Quechee Gorge, enjoying gluten-free crepes, hiking Mt. Tom, and exploring the charming little town of Woodstock, VT. As time went on, Caleb realized he was in love with Kate in a quiet, ordinary moment, when he recognized there was nowhere else he’d rather be and no one else he’d rather be with. Kate knew she was in love with Caleb during their first weekend away together in Boston at the Head of the Charles Regatta, when she caught herself thinking that everything felt better simply because he was there. By the end of 2024, the two had moved to St. Louis, Missouri. It was there that they truly became each other’s best friend, navigating a new city and building a home together. Throughout the year, the couple started new roles, traveled throughout the Midwest, navigated the tornado that hit St. Louis, and took Ella on numerous walks throughout Forest Park. Caleb's favorite memory from this chapter in St. Louis was Kate's first time driving a tractor when she somehow nearly hit a stationary cow. Kate's highlight was during their one-year anniversary trip to Lake of the Ozarks, where Caleb successfully reminded Ella that she is a Portuguese WATER Dog and knows how to swim. In September 2025, they travelled to Greenville, but this time, Caleb had a little surprise. At Falls Park in downtown Greenville, he got down on one knee and asked Kate to be his bride. After she said yes, they headed to Juniper, the rooftop bar where they first said, “I love you." Little did Kate know that both of their families were waiting there to celebrate them. Now, Caleb and Kate are preparing for their move to Greenville this July. Wedding planning has been a joy, and they are so excited and honored to celebrate with you on April 24, 2027.
