It all began on a warm night in 2014, in the middle of a crowd, beneath the pulse of music and starlit skies. Henry and Julia first met at a concert through mutual friends—just strangers with shared laughter and a love for good tunes. As the group grabbed a bite to eat, Julia’s favorite song started to play. Without hesitation, she stood up, eyes wide with excitement, and exclaimed, “OMG I need to go back to the crowd—can someone come with me?!” Henry didn’t even blink. In that moment, something told him to follow her. He reached out, took her hand, and together they ran through the sea of people to get as close to the stage as possible. Hand in hand, dancing and singing like they’d known each other forever, they spent the rest of the concert inseparable. Afterward, they exchanged numbers and stayed connected in the way only people falling into something magical can—texting, Snapchats, rounds of Trivia Crack, and an endless stream of memes on Instagram. It was fun, flirty, and full of promise. But as time passed, life pulled them in different directions, and eventually, they drifted apart. Their story, however, was far from over. Between 2016 and 2020, fate kept weaving them into each other’s paths. Julia was at La Salle, Henry at Temple, and though they were in different chapters of their lives, Henry never stopped trying to write them into the same one. Julia may have been “too cool” for Henry at the time, but in true Henry fashion, he never gave up. Then one sunny spring day, something shifted. Henry texted Julia on a whim, and just like that, plans were made. It was spontaneous and simple—but sometimes the best beginnings are. From that day on, Henry continued to show up, and in May 2021, they made it official over a crispy tomato sandwich from Antonios Deli. Since then, their love has been full of adventure: moving in together, adopting their cat Peter Parker, changing careers, soaking up summer sun on countless shore trips, and growing closer with every new chapter. And in the most perfectly “them” way possible, Henry proposed right outside Antonio’s Deli in South Philly—the same spot where he once nervously asked Julia to be his girlfriend. This time, with a ring in hand and forever on his mind, she said yes.
