Take a drive along the blue ridge and stop at one of the countless lookouts. Or, park the car and go for a hike. Whether you're looking for an easy open field stroll or challenging mountain top hike to waterfalls, the Blue Ridge has it all for free. Bonus points for going up around sunset and packing a picnic!
Asheville is extremely well known for being one of the top beer towns in the US. Spend the day tasting all sorts of varieties of craft brews from one of 50+ breweries in town. Some of our personal favorites are RAD Beer Garden Hi-Wire, Highlander Brewing, New Belgium, Wedge Brewing and DSOLVR. Ben's Tune Up is another not to be missed sake and brew spot that always has good vibes. Try one or try as many as you can, you can never go wrong spending a day doing a brewery crawl in AVL.
For those of us that prefer cider to beer or just want a change of pace....do not miss Noble Cider downtown. Patrick and I always make it a point to stop in and split flights of cider so we can sample many options. Personal fave of ours is the Earl Grey Cider - don't knock it 'til you try it!
Check out the River arts district and go explore some cool art galleries, find some neat graffiti or stroll along the river, and then grab a nice cold brew at one of the many breweries nearby. A popular favorite is New Belgium Brewing and RAD Hi-wire beer garden.
