Michael and Gionna had mutual friends while attending Drew University. Their paths never truly crossed until one night (June 9th 2016 to be exact), Gionna was out at Thatchers celebrating her Maid of Honor, Sarah's 21st birthday. They were talking about boys (obviously) and Gionna brought up how cute she thought Michael was but they never spoke. So Casey (bridesmaid) took Gionna's phone and sent a DM to Michael, Via Twitter and the rest was history.

On June 27th Gionna's father, Anthony gifted Gionna and Michael their adorable puppy, Mr. Jack. They decided to take Jack for a hike Saturday morning since they were both finally off from work that weekend to celebrate "family weekend" at casa Di Donato. Gionna, first had to go get her nails done (which she never does) but Sue (mother of the groom) asked both Gionna and Tori to go in the morning. Sue has done that in the past so it was nothing out of the ordinary. However, Sue bailed last minute for work so it was just Tori and Gionna spending the morning together. Gionna asked Tori for her and Nick to join them on their hike but they both awkwardly said no. So when Gionna returned home to get ready she asked Mike if they could just go the next day since they had plans to bring Jack over to his cousins ( Dakota & Moose Szymczak) house for a play date. Michael, again awkwardly said no and they went on their hike. EARLY into the hike, Michael asked Gionna if they wanted to go by the bench over near the water to give Jack some water. So as Gionna bent down to give Jack his water Michael went over to his bag to grab "their water". When Gionna turned around Michael was down on one knee.
