After we had each been playing the popular MMORPG World of Warcraft for 3 years, it wasn't until 2007 that a free server transfer brought us (and our characters) together. Since we were in separate guilds, we'd only interact during rare joint guild PvP groups, or when seeing each other hanging out in town (Shattrath, amirite?) One day, Gina was gathering materials in a fairly contested PvP zone when she got a whisper (the equivalent of a DM)... "Can I get a rez?" was Jay's short message that indicated he had met his untimely end after a skirmish. Any player passing by that could resurrect another was a beacon of hope - with their spells to bring one back to life, they could help the recently deceased avoid the dreaded 'rez sickness' (all stats & damage decreased by 75%)! "Sure, wheres ur body?" from Gina kicked off the start of an unusual scavenger hunt searching an area notorious for a player's corpse to be stranded on top of mountains, stuck hanging in midair, or sunk down into the world. It was this successful rez that led to more and more scheduled group activities, Arenas where we battled against enemies 2v2, and even more PvP adventures as we snuck deep into Horde cities. All the while realizing how much we enjoyed spending time and talking with each other. We officially started our long-distance relationship in 2008! It was 3 years of falling asleep with each other on the phone, a handful of week-long visits in person, and of course, late nights logged into WoW. Jay's big decision to move from Wisconsin to California in 2011 turned our in-game adventures into real life ones! Moving in together, adopting the cutest little kitty, travelling to Japan & the Philippines, getting our own Costco memberships, and attending endless different conventions have been some of the best adventures so far, but we can't wait for the next one -- marriage! And of course, there'll always be the next co-op game for us play together <3
