Our Love Story

August 2010 - October 2013

In August of 2010, we both started high school. We had the same first period Math class together. That is the first time we met. We slowly started to become friends throughout that first year of high school. He was that annoying/ class clown kid in the class and I was the quiet, smart one. I remember there was one time in our Math class together that I looked at him and thought, "I would date him" and he said he's always had a crush on me. In our Sophomore year of high school in December, we had a class field trip to Washington, D.C. It was on this trip that Tim, the best man, bet Jared that he couldn't get my phone number. He lost that bet. Once he got my number we started flirting and getting to know each other. He told me he liked me and wanted to date. I didn't know how I felt about him and I had other boyfriends throughout high school. Eventually, he started to get girlfriends too and we would just talk and flirt once and a while over the phone. Finally, during our senior year in 2013, when we were both single I decided to give him a chance. We hung out a few times and I started to see what I was missing all those years. Fast forward to 2020: we have known each other for 10 years, have been dating for 7 years, and will be engaged for one year. On September 18th, 2021, we will married.

The Proposal

08/08/2020

During our housewarming party when we were opening presents, I opened a bag and it had a shirt wrapped in tissue paper in it. I pulled out the shirt and it said “Future Mrs. Lyon” and I looked over and Jared was down on one knee with the ring box. I immediately started crying already after I finished reading the shirt. I was wearing the promise ring he gave me in 2014 on my ring finger so I had to take that off and put it in the ring box and he put the engagement ring on my finger. I cried for a good 3 minutes trying to soak it in. It was the best moment ever and one I had been waiting a long time for.
