Gina and Jayson first met at work, both starting their careers at Alcoa Inc. – the “neighborhood aluminum company” in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Mutual friend groups meant seeing each other frequently at happy hours and social events. In 2016, Gina joined the Internal Audit team, where Jayson was a team lead. The two rarely traveled together on audits, having similar expertise. Still, they saw each other frequently – and, both being quite competitive, set out to be top talent in the department, often competing with each other. Still, their friendship grew. They quickly realized their shared love of board games, craft beer, and trivia. The more time they spent together, the more they enjoyed each other’s company. In 2017, on a trip to California, Jayson shared that he had mostly assumed they had been dating for months. Gina’s opinion differed slightly, and Jayson responded by asking her, quite officially, if she’d be his girlfriend. Not so secretly, Gina had been hoping for this moment for months. On June 10, 2017 after watching the Princess Bride for the first time together in Griffith Park in Los Angeles, California – Gina and Jayson became a couple. After six years and four more showtimes of the Princess Bride (primarily at the Screening Room in Amherst!), the couple got engaged on their fifth trip to Banff, Alberta – their favorite place – on October 25, 2023. Jayson pulled off the perfect surprise engagement, on top of Sulphur Mountain, on a day that Gina commented during the hike to the summit “looked like the inside of a snow globe.” Now, exactly two years after their engagement, Gina and Jayson can't wait to celebrate their wedding with you at another favorite place of theirs – Reikart House in Amherst, NY – on October, 25, 2025.
