Matt and Shelby first met on a sweltering fall evening at Radio Coffee & Beer in Austin, Texas. Matt had a feeling that a quirky bluegrass show over drinks would make for the perfect first date. From the moment they met, conversation flowed easily, laughter came naturally, and it quickly became clear that something special was brewing. In the weeks that followed, their connection deepened. Whether they were exploring Austin’s hidden gems, or simply enjoying each other's company, it didn't take long before they both knew they had found something real. They fell in love effortlessly, with a shared sense of humor and kindness at the heart of it all. Over the next few years, Matt and Shelby built a life full of adventure. Together, they share a passion for traveling, and are eager to experience new places side by side. From taking in the sights and sounds of New Orleans at Jazz Fest, to wandering amidst the historic architecture of Chicago, or savoring cochinita pibil in the Yucatán, their adventures have become some of their most cherished memories. At the end of April 2025, Matt planned a “birthday vacation” to New Orleans with Shelby, where Matt had actually planned a surprise that would change their lives forever on their first night in town. Beneath the stately branches of the nearly 300-year-old Tree of Life in Audubon Park, and in front of a local high school choir, Matt asked Shelby to marry him. Today, Matt and Shelby share a beautiful home in Austin with their beloved fur-babies Minnie and Poppy. As they write the next chapter of committing to forever with each other, they are grateful for the family and friends who have continued to be a part of their story.
