Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Gillian Koh and Randy Slepchik
OTTAWA REGION IS WONDERFUL, BOTH INDOORS AND OUT! TO CELEBRATE CANADA'S 150th BIRTHDAY, THERE ARE MANY FESTIVITIES FOR YOU TO EXPERIENCE

PARLIAMENT HILL'S SOUND AND LIGHT SHOW

Bring a blanket and come sit on the lawn of Parliament. A nightly sound and light show, Northern Lights, begins at 9pm in September. The show illuminates Canadian stories of nation-building, partnership, discovery, valour, pride and vision as the heart of our nation

OUTDOORS

The region has a lot of multi-purpose paths (running, biking, walking). You can explore the Ottawa River on foot or wheels. Check out the balanced rock sculptures by John Seprano. There is a small beach (Westboro beach), which has a bar too

GATINEAU PARK

Across the river is the city of Gatineau. Gatineau Park has many great trails: Wolf Trail is a bit challenging (just over 8km of difficult terrain), and is one of Gillian's favourites. There are amazing views along the way. Randy enjoys taking guests for hikes to see the Carbide Mill trail (3km loop, moderate). Additionally, you can enjoy a walk around Pink Lake (2.5km, many stairs), which is beautiful and a vibrant turquoise

MOSAICANADA

For 107 days, Jacques-Cartier Park will host the biggest horticultural event in Canada, with MosaïCanada 150/Gatineau 2017. Mosaiculture is a most spectacular technique that combines different art forms. The theme of the Gatineau exhibit will reflect 150 years of history, values, culture and arts in Canada, represented by some 40 different arrangements. The exhibit will consist of a route extending over almost one kilometer. Each visit will last approximately 90 minutes

MUSEUMS

Most of our museums are free on Thursday evenings. Until September 4, the Canadian Jewish Experience exhibits are open at the Canadian War Museum and 30 Metcalfe Street

FOOD STOPS

The happy couple are also foodies. Some of their favourite haunts include: Whalesbone (Bank St and Elgin Street): Delicious and sustainable seafood Bar Laurel (Wellington): Spanish pintxos, bringing back memories of a recent trip to the Rioja wine region SOIF (Montcalm, Gatineau): An amazing wine bar, where Gillian and Randy had one of their first dates. It is owned by the world's best female sommelier Coconut Lagoon (St Laurent): Offering South Indian food- a great buffet brunch Union 613 (Somerset): Supporting workers rights, southern menu brunch, and great cocktails Happy Goat Coffee (Laurel): Freshly roasted coffee, dog friendly. A great place to relax and have a coffee with your pup
