Hayden is the closest airport to Steamboat. This is going to be your most direct option, with shuttles and rental cars available to make the 30 minute drive to downtown Steamboat.

If there are no convenient flights out of Hayden, Denver International is also a great option but will require a rental car to make the 3 hour drive to Steamboat. The drive is gorgeous, though especially in the fall.

Travel from Denver to Steamboat Springs

If you are flying into Denver International Airport, an affordable way to reach Steamboat Springs is by taking the Bustang. Bustang offers a bus route from Union Station in downtown Denver directly to Steamboat Springs. To take this route: 1. From the airport, take the RTD A Line train to Union Station (about 40 minutes and $10) 2. From Union Station, board the Bustang Outrider bus to Steamboat Springs. (about 3 hours and $30) The total cost is typically around $35–$40 per person each way and the full journey takes approximately 4–5 hours depending on connections and traffic. Bustang schedules are limited, so we recommend checking times and reserving tickets in advance if you plan to use this option.
