It all started in 2016 at NDSU, where Jack and I first met in the lively basement of the TKE house. We were just friends of friends—nothing too serious, but I was definitely interested in talking to him more. We went on with our lives in Fargo, occasionally seeing each other on social media or running into one another at the OB in downtown Fargo. Life took us in different directions. Jack finished his degree, and I began my cosmetology career. We stayed loosely connected through the usual channels—social media and dating apps—but it wasn’t until Jack was working wildland fire that he finally made his move. After seeing an Instagram post of mine from a hiking trip in Duluth, I remember Jack saying how tired he was of sitting in a dirty fire truck with 3 other guys for the past 21 days. And here I was, like his shining light! He reached out and asked me out on a date, and I’m so glad he did. After the fire season, Jack moved back to Fargo from Bismarck. We spent more time together, and before long, he moved in with me, bringing with him a new sense of adventure. That’s when we decided to get our dog, Floyd—a goofy, lovable companion that’s been part of our journey ever since. Fast forward to September 2024, and we took a road trip to Glacier National Park. The trip was filled with breathtaking views, but the moment I’ll never forget was when Jack proposed. We were hiking up a beautiful mountain trail, next to a small creek. In a quiet moment, surrounded by nature, taking in the beauty, Jack asked me to spend forever with him. Of course, I said yes. The rest of our trip was spent in a blissful daze, exploring Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons, soaking in the beauty of the parks and our engagement. I couldn’t have asked for anything better.
