In August 2013, we were freshman at UT Knoxville. We lived on the 12th floor of Morrill Hall where we quickly became friends. By the next year, we made a point to see each other nearly everyday. There has been love between us from the beginning. In January 2015 of our sophomore year, we started dating. We were nervous. We knew it would change our relationship forever. We were 19 years old, this was serious, and we might not be ready, but we had to try. We joke that we've lived together since we met, but we officially moved in together in July 2017. We both graduated by the end of 2017, but we weren't sure what was next. David began working at UT, and Savannah began working for Strategic Education Inc. 2020 was a weird, scary year for everyone. It's easy to say now that it's over and we've had time to recover, but it was the best, worst year ever. 2020 was the year David completed his Masters of Public Health at UT and immediately worked in COVID-19 response. We started to take planning our future more seriously. Work was stressful, but we were employed. We were burnt out, but we were trying. In 2021, we set out to buy a house. We put in many offers, got our hopes up, experienced disappointment, and kept trying. On June 27, 2022, we closed on our first house. When we got to the house that morning, David proposed in the living room... 7 years 5 months and 5 days after we started dating. Reflecting on our relationship reminds us that all we can really ever do is try. As long as we're trying together, eventually we'll figure it out. We look forward to figuring it out together for the rest of time. We're having a small wedding ceremony with our immediate families on October 13, 2024 in Maine. With all of our love, David and Savannah
