Since we are from two different countries, people tend to ask us, "how did the two of you even meet?". And to be honest, the answer is simple...online! We came across each other on social media, and because of shared interests, a friendship quickly formed. Eventually we decided to meet up in person and we have been together ever since. Thank you to all of the scientists and engineers who invented the internet and airplanes.
Long distance was not easy! The key for us was always planning our next trip with each other by the time the current one was coming to an end. We took turns flying to each other. We took turns exploring each other's countries/surrounding areas and meeting each other's loved ones. It was not cheap or easy, but there is something magical about it when we look back at it all. Thank you to all of our friends and family who supported us.
Many of you already know that Pride and Prejudice (2005) is my favorite romance film. I made sure Cédric had this knowledge from the very beginning. For our engagement, Cédric planned a trip to Stourhead, which is an estate about two hours outside of London, UK. Stourhead is where some iconic scenes from Pride and Prejudice were filmed. While walking around and soaking in the stunning scenery, Cédric asked me to marry him. It was a wonderful day that we will never forget.
After years of doing long-distance, Cédric and I decided it was finally time to get married and start building our life together in one place. I decided that I would move out of the United States and join Cédric in Luxembourg. It was a big and nerve-wrecking decision, but we decided it was the right one for us. After much thought, Cédric and I decided that a simple civil marriage would be best. We received the blessings we wanted from both of our families and our friends, and on April 17, 2026, Cédric and I had our civil marriage completed in Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxembourg. Thank you for everyone for being understanding and supportive throughout our entire journey together. We miss and love you all.
